How to take care of Copper Beech Hedge x 10
PRIVET (LIGUSTRUM OVALIFOLIUM) this extremely adaptable hedge plant is resistant to shade and smoky air so can literally be planted anywhere! Any garden soil will do and it thrives in sun or shade. If left untrimmed it produces unpleasantly scented white flower clusters in June or July, followed by black berries (attention: harmful if eaten!) To make a hedge, plant 4 trees per metre. Cut back all shoots by half in mid spring after planting. After 1 year during late summer, cut back all growths by half again. Keep cutting each year until desired height is reached. Then clip twice a year (late spring/early autumn) to keep in shape. IMPORTANT: All parts of this plant are non-edible. Do not apply fertilizer until your trees have been in the ground for at least 6 -8 weeks. It could burn the new roots.
