Then the transition from outside to the warm living room will be more successful. For best results cut the stem at an angle and remove one or two inches from the bottom, this will help the tree can soak up water better. Make sure there is always water at the base of the foot and also that the water level is high enough so that the bottom of the trunk can still soak up water. If you cannot provide this then its better planted in a bucket of wet sand and keep the sand moist at all times.
