Also known as Juneberry or Serviceberry, this fantastic deciduous shrub puts on an outstanding show for most of the year, starry white flowers bloom in dense clusters in strong contrast with the young coppery coloured foliage in spring, turning a soft green colour in summer. In July it will be smothered with dark red edible berries, which become purple black as they ripen, they are sweet and succulent with a flavour of apples. During autumn it turns to a scarlet and crimson colour before losing its leaves. This plant is self-fertile and it is also suitable for hedging. Average growth per year is 30-40 cm.

How to take care of Amelanchier lamarckii 19 cm
This deciduous small tree or large shrub can be grown as a centrepiece in your garden and attract lots of birds & butterflies. Dig a hole 3 times the diameter of the root ball and 1 1/2 times as deep. Do not plant in container or confine the space for roots or plant in poor, compacted soils. They perform best with plenty of open space for the roots to expand. Once established they will tolerate some shade, wet and drought conditions but prefers well-drained, moisture retentive sandy or clay soils and dormant plants should be pruned in mid-March. If you are pruning, remember the flower buds of the Serviceberry are produced on tips and on second year old shoots. Fertilize every one and half months during the growing season from April to October or at least 6 weeks after planting.
