How to take care of Blackcurrant Ben Lomond
Blackcurrants will tolerate poor drainage but they do require organic-rich soil and need some shelter from the wind. Place in a full sun position, they can endure partial shade. Prepare your site by digging a hole wide enough to spread the roots out. Once its planted cut back the stems to about 5cm(2") above the soil. Prune between November-March and after 2years cut out weak and diseased branches. Provide winter protection against frost at night time. Water regularly during dry weather- keep the water off the stems. Feed in spring and summer. Usually produces fruit in their second or third year.
