Clematis Westerplatte is a real showstopper, it produces stunning deep red velvety flowers with petals that arch back slightly at the tips. The flower colour often varies depending on where it’s planted, in shade it is deep red and in light the edges of the petals can turn cerise. This Clematis is quite compact growing so it’s suitable for growing in a container.
This variety belongs to late large flowering prune group 2 that needs to be pruned in late winter or early spring and after its first flush of flowers in summer, this will encourage it to flower again later in summer..
