This attractive and durable winter Heather variety Erica carnea is native to the alpine regions of Europe. This variety will provide you with colour and interest in your garden or on your patio long after other flowers have faded and the garden takes on a somewhat barren look. Not as fussy with soil as their counterparts, they will thrive in any well-drained soil and form a low maintenance ground cover plant.

How to take care of Erica Carnea Red
ERICA, WINTER HEATHER. For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. This is a hardy variety. Their flowers are borne in late autumn to early spring. Its forms a low maintenance ground cover plant. Choose a sunny or light shade position. It will thrive in a limy well-drained soil. For best results you can add some peat to the soil at the time of planting. Bunch the trailing stems together before planting and plant deeply, covering some of the leaves. This helps the plant not to go bare in the centre in later years. Keep them well watered during their first spring and summer after planting. Trim away any unwanted bits after the flowering period but do not cut into the old wood.
