Brass buttons is a fast growing mat-forming ground cover perennial, producing fern-like leaves that are bronzy-black with green tips and tiny yellowish green chamomile-like insignificant flowers in summer. Though it is often described as an evergreen in warm climates, it dies back almost completely by mid-winter but will reappear each spring. Suitable for rock gardens or along the edge of pathways.

How to take care of Leptinella squalida
Plant in well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Prefers acidic soil. Water well after planting. Will not tolerate drought so keep moist in warm weather. It can look a bit scruffy when it first starts to grow back in spring, but starts to bush up nicely by June and retains a fluffy summer and autumn appearance. No pruning needed. Easily divided by digging up the clump and ripping into smaller pieces in spring or early autumn.
