How to take care of Juniperus communis Arnold
In general : Juniperus Communis Arnold (Jeneverbes) dislike wet feet, therefore plant in well-drained soil which has been improved with some compost, you can improve soil drainage by mixing in some sand or grit to the planting holes. Juniperus Communis Arnold (Jeneverbes) have strong preference for sandy, acidic soils. At the start of winter water the Juniperus Communis Arnold (Jeneverbes) well so that they go into the winter with a moisture boost. As Juniperus Communis Arnold (Jeneverbes) are evergreen trees, they keep on dehydrating all winter long. Avoid shading the base of the plant to prevent the lower part also turning brown - it does not stand shade. Do not apply fertilizer until your trees have been in the ground for at least 6 -8 weeks. It could burn the new roots. During Feb and March add some Natural Kieserite (Magnesium Sulphate) on top of the soil to improve the foliage colour, if you cannot obtain it, organic fertilizer will suffice. Juniperus Communis Arnold (Jeneverbes) require occasional maintenance and upkeep, and should only be pruned to remove any dead and old wood.
