Also known as Chinese chives, garlic chives (Allium tuberosum) can be used and stored in the same manner as chives. It has a delicate garlic flavour and is used extensively in oriental dishes. Garlic chives are a good choice for those who shy away from full-flavoured garlic. It has strap-shaped leaves unlike either onion or garlic, and straight thin white flowering stalks, which are taller than the leaves.

How to take care of Garlic Chives
Garlic chives will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but they prefer slightly acidic soil. Regular cutting helps keep plants vigorous and healthy and encourages spreading. Keep flowers picked to discourage dormancy in warm weather. No fertilizer is needed if planted in fertile soil. Plants harvested often benefit from nitrogen top-dressing. Divide and replant clump in fresh soil every three to five years. In cold areas, leaves of garlic chives will die off completely and will re-sprout in spring. It is recommended in order to get a good yield of chives to cut the plant back after second year.
