Grape Vine Pinot Blanc Wit 20-30 cm
Grape Vine Pinot Blanc Wit 20-30 cm
Grape Vine Pinot Blanc Wit is a white grapevine for outdoor growing, valued for its pale grapes and its classic, decorative look when trained on a support.
Location
Place this grapevine outdoors in a sunny position. It’s best grown with a support system such as wires or a trellis, so it can be guided neatly as it develops.
Growth habit and size
Given time to establish, it develops into a productive vine over the years. Allow plenty of space between plants so each vine can be trained comfortably.
Plant care
This variety is grown for edible grapes, with harvest in September. It prefers chalky ground and does well in free-draining soil, and benefits from feeding in the growing season.
Pruning and maintenance
Regular pruning helps keep the vine in shape and encourages a clear framework. Shape the main branches in late winter, then tidy up side growth through summer to keep the plant well organised on its support.
Winter hardiness
Hardy down to –15°C. If kept in a pot, move it to a sheltered place in winter and protect the container against frost damage.

Instructions
Plant in a sunny spot in well-drained soil and provide sturdy support so the vine can be trained as it grows.
If planting in a pot, choose one at least 25 cm wide and cover the drainage hole with a potsherd so excess water can drain freely. Use a mix of sand, compost and potting soil. Plant so the root ball sits just below the soil surface and loosen the roots before planting.
Prune in February to shape the main framework. In summer, remove unwanted side shoots and keep a few strong stems to build the structure.
Water at the base rather than over the foliage. Feed in early spring, then again during May to July.
