How to take care of Hippeastrum Mount Blanc 24/26
Plant the bulb up to three quarters of its height in the pot. Water well after planting and no longer until leaves appear above the bulb. Caution: the soil must never be wet, as the bulbs will only produce leaves at the expense of flowers. Place the pots in direct sunlight at room temperature. Flowers appear 1 to 3 months after planting, depending on the heat of the plants and the stage of development of the flowers within the bulb. Aftercare: After the flower has faded, cut it off leaving the green foliage. Treat the plant like a houseplant. Water regularly and fertilise. In summer, stop watering and let the plant dry out. In September, remove the bulb from the pot, taking care not to damage the roots. Store the bulb in a cool, dark place for about 8-10 weeks to let it rest. At the end of this period, the bulb is ready for flowering. Repot the bulb in a pot with a circumference only slightly larger than the bulb itself. Place it in a sunny spot and start watering. When the plant starts growing again, start the watering programme again. Diseases can be prevented by spraying a fungicide or, if the problem develops during the growing season, by applying it weekly.
