How to take care of Kiwi - Actinidia deliciosa Hayward
Soak the roots for approx. 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. This is a hardy deciduous Kiwi Hayward shrub, its leaves do not appear until late spring. Flowers appear in late summer and early autumn. Kiwi Hayward needs a sunny sheltered position to thrive in. In colder areas, plant Kiwi Hayward near a south-facing wall. Protect Kiwi Hayward from cold winds. Use a well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Remove faded flower heads as they fade to prolong flowering. If Kiwi Hayward is planted in pots, plant in spring. There will be little growth in the first year. Kiwi Hayward do well in various soil types. Kiwi Hayward likes to be constantly moist, but not wet. Feed twice a month during the growing season and prune as necessary to control plant size. Container-grown Kiwi Hayward plants should be brought indoors in extreme winter conditions. Check Kiwi Hayward plants periodically for pests such as aphids, white flies, and mealy bugs. Use a horticultural oil or insecticidal soap to control these pests.
Since plants bloom on new growth, shaping or pruning can be done at any time. It is a female variety which means you need to have a male in the vicinity to produce the fruit.
