How to take care of Parlour palm Chamaedorea elegans 9cm
Place the Areca palm tree in a location with bright indirect sunlight and keep away from any drafts. For best results keep it a couple of feet away from the wall. Water through until the water drains from the end and then again only when the surface of the soil is dry. Ensure good drainage and never let it sit in water as this can cause it to rot. Re-pot the Areca palm tree in spring when it outgrows its container. Use a container only one size bigger and a palm-type potting soil, and always plant it back at the same level as before. When a frond becomes yellow or dead like in appearance, be sure to remove the entire frond. Don't snip brown ends of Areca palm leaves, as this will cease the growth of that frond. Watch out for the most common pest to this plant, the spider mite. If present, try misting the plant twice daily with a soapy water mixture. As most tropical plants, an occasional misting will make your plant look and feel healthier.
