Helianthus Evening Sun is a real showstopper, it blooms on tall stems with multiple, large flowers in evening sun shades of reddish bronze, orange and burgundy with rich dark centers. The flowers are 10-15cm wide and the plants can grow up to 8 ft tall. The flowers are long lasting and perfect for cutting, the seeds are a treat for birds in autumn.

Care - Usage

How to take care of Sunflower Evening Sun

Start the seeds indoors in small pots, once they have germinated and grown into seedlings approx 15cms high they can be transplanted outdoors, when all chance of frost has passed. They require a very sunny location and will grow happily in most garden soils. The greatest treat to sunflower seedlings is slugs and snails, protect young plants at night with netting or use plastic bottles with the neck cut off. Flowers: 12-14 weeks from spring sowing. Flower production: 2-3 months Vase life: 10 days.
