The garden shed, in English garden shed, is derived from the old English word shade (shad or shedde) that was first documented in 1481. This garden shed was specially designed for the blue tit. It offers not only the blue tit, but also the crested tit, glossyhead, matkop and coal tit a good place to nest. During bad weather conditions, the nest box offers shelter and protection.

How to use Tuinhuis-nestkast
Nesting box Site: out of reach of predators and shelter it away from prevailing winds, rain, and strong sunlight. Do not place it adjacent to other bird tables and feeding devices. Do not put anything in it - the birds will add their own nesting materials. Helpful Hints: A prickly collar placed above and below the nest box will help to deter predators. Do not disturb the nest box, once it's in use, until fledglings have left the next, usually by the end of August. Thoroughly clean the nest box during early October, as it's very likely to be used as a winter roosting site. Cleaning: Remove screws in roof to open box for cleaning. NB: the slot in the base of this next box is essential for water drainage.
