How to take care of Camellia japonica Pink P15
For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. Planting site: needs sheltered spot in light shade or full sun, avoid chalky soils they prefer well-drained and slightly acidic, humus rich soil. Camellias need plenty of water and preferably rain water. Add some peat to planting area before planting and again each spring for best results. Fertilise with acidic plant food. Be sure to clear up fallen flower heads in order to prevent a spread of petal blight. Cut away any yellow foliage that appears and clean blades after use. Cut back damaged and unwanted branches in May (after flowering). It is hardy but if planted in containers protect from hot afternoon sun, winds and frost, during harsh winters overwinter pots indoors in an unheated room or greenhouse.
