Description

This Clematis produces an array of sweetly scented white - pink flowers during April - June. Due to its vigorous growth habit, it's excellent for covering, walls, arches, sheds and obelisks. This clematis is also suited for shaded areas. This Clematis belongs to the Montana small flowering group, pruning group 1, it blooms on the previous years growth. With this variety no pruning is necessary.

Care - Usage

How to take care of Clematis Var. Rubens

Soak your plants as soon as they arrive. Plant this Clematis so that the crown is level with the surface of the soil, in well drained soil, add a generous amount of grit to the bottom of the hole when planting and make sure that the roots are always shaded. It blooms on the previous year's growth, so resist the urge to prune it in early spring. This clematis belongs to pruning group 1 this means that no pruning necessary you can tidy it up after it has finished flowering.

Clematis can be quite fussy soil must be fertile and moist for best results. While the montanas are root-hardy, they are not reliably bud-hardy so use caution. They can be damaged by late winter thawing and freezing in these areas.
