How to take care of Fothergilla major
For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. Plant it in well-drained soil in sun or semi-shade, and water well after planting. There must be no lime or chalk in the soil. If possible choose a position that is not exposed to prolonged cold winds. Pruning is not necessary but you can cut old stems in winter. Pinch out the tips of shoots to encourage bushy growth. All parts of this plant are at least mildly poisonous.
