Hydrangea Snowball Ø 9 cm
Hydrangea Snowball Ø 9 cm
Hydrangea Snowball is a flowering shrub that lights up the garden with full, rounded heads of white blooms, adding a soft, elegant touch from summer into autumn.
Location
Grow this hydrangea outdoors in sun or semi-shade. A spot with well-drained soil helps it settle in comfortably.
Growth habit and size
It develops into a substantial shrub, reaching around 125–150 cm tall and spreading to about 80–100 cm when mature. Allow roughly 100 cm between plants to give it space to fill out naturally.
Plant care
Plant into well-drained soil and water in well after planting, especially while it establishes. Mixing a little potting compost into the planting soil helps hold moisture without leaving the roots sitting wet.
Pruning and maintenance
This variety responds well to firm pruning. You can cut it back after flowering, and in early spring prune down to 2–3 buds above the ground to encourage fresh new shoots.
Winter hardiness
Hardy down to –15°C in suitable conditions.

Instructions
Remove the plant from the nursery pot and gently loosen the rootball so the roots can grow outward.
Soak the rootball in a bucket of water for 10–12 hours before planting.
Dig a hole deep enough so the rootball sits just below the soil surface.
Mix some potting compost into the planting soil to help retain moisture while still allowing excess water to drain.
Place the shrub in the hole with the roots spread out, refill with soil, firm in, and water well.
After 4 weeks, sprinkle a handful of organic fertiliser on the soil around the plant.
After flowering, you can cut it back firmly.
In early spring, prune back to 2–3 buds above the ground.
If the shrub becomes too large, it can be divided in spring and the strongest young sections replanted.
