How to take care of Hydrangea macrophylla Selma 9 cm pot
Water the root ball for 2 hours before planting! Water regularly for the next few weeks to allow the root system to develop well! Hydrangeas come in 2 types: 'Plate Hydrangeas' have flattened flower heads and 'Garden Hydrangeas' have spherical flower heads. Flower color depends on the availability of aliminium ions in the soil. Acidic soils, with a PH below 5.5 cause blue flowers. Soils with a higher PH cause pink flowers. You can influence the flower color yourself by adding a blue-coloring mixture. Only white flowers are not affected by the PH value. The soil should be moist and permeable to water. The location can be in the sun, or partial shade. Cut back in winter only to the first thick buds. The flowering period is in summer. You can also beautifully incorporate most flower heads into dry bouquets. Add some peat to the planting hole when planting, this will retain more moisture in the soil. In the spring, you can work some fertilizer into the top layer of soil. Add a layer of mulch over it.
