How to take care of Weigela nana variegata
For best results soak the roots for approx 2 hrs. before planting and water well after planting and for the next few weeks. Weigela nana variegata needs space for its arching stems, so take this into account when choosing a position. Plant Weigela nana variegata in full sun position and you will be rewarded with lots of flowers. Weigela nana variegata may also be planted in light shade, flowering will not be as abundant but blooms will appear. Use a well-drained fertile soil that does not dry out. Apply mulch and feed regularly in spring. After flowering cut back shoots with faded blooms to keep its shape. Does best when pruned annually. Remove old and dead wood on mature shrubs in late winter, this will helps improve the shrub’s vigor and bloom the next year. You can also prune a little after flower to hold its shape. A regular, balanced plant food in late winter can encourage new growth.
