This attractive variety produces frilly and crispy leaves for more than 3 months if you pick your leaves from the outside. The dark red colour of this lettuce makes it an ideal choice to add colour and texture to your salad bowl. Their open habit and toothed leaves make them less attractive for field slugs. Sow early spring under glass in seedbeds or from mid spring until late summer in open ground in rows.

How to take care of Lettuce Lollo Rosa
Choose a partially shaded site with well-drained humus soil. Sow seeds outdoors when all chance of frost has passed. Lettuce dislikes being moved so sow seed directly into a position where it remains until harvest. Spray the soil with water before planting. Sow just a few seeds every other week for a continuous supply of lettuce throughout the season depending on your needs, don’t sow all of the seed at once as it will all mature at the same time and need to be used up very quickly. Depending on the variety it can take between 6 and 14 weeks from sowings to until the lettuces are ready for harvesting. Protect your lettuce plants from slugs.
